I didn't come in dead last but "mostly dead" last. At the end I was all alone. Finally at about mile 4 a couple of guys passed me coming the other way who were on mile 2. I can't tell you how excited I was to see them. Both of them were males so that didn't help my standings in the women. (I passed a woman at mile 4 or I would have finished last.) I finished last in my age group. I'm still trying to figure out where everybody passed me. It must have been on the bike, and the swim...oh yeah, and the run.
See all those people in the background. They were faster than me....all of them. (Why am I smiling?) Some rules for doing a triathlon:
1)Try to exercise more than once before doing one.
2)Don't sign up for Olympic distance if you meant to do a sprint.
3)Make sure all features of your equipment are working before you start the race. (This is not an excuse and wouldn't have made me go faster. It's just nice to have equipment that works)
4)Try not to come in last place. (That one, I accomplished..barely)
After the triathlon we went to a farmer's market, then to my brother's house. My nephew Jake was celebrating his 8th birthday so we went over for cake. While we were there Boomer's heel had an unfortunate encounter with the metal weather stripping on the bottom of the door so we had to leave in a hurry to take him for 6 stitches. He was very brave and even though he got teary he didn't cry at urgent care. Be aware the photo might be too graphic for those with squeamish stomachs.
July 11: Church and a Sunday drive to Eagle. Boomer couldn't wait to go to primary and show his new teacher his "owie". (Sadie came home with Mom to take a nap and Jackson didn't want to go to a new primary class so he came home too.)

Auntie Michelle, YOU ROCK! I'm so glad that you are writing all of your happenings so we can see what you have been up to. Just as a side note vacation does not equal triathalon in my book.
